GR11 Day 3 – Bera to Wild Camping 4 hours from Bera

From our bedtoom at Casa Romana in Bera, we could see the summit of Santa Barbara, the summit we had to cross today, and it looked pretty daunting early morning hike.

It took us about an hour to reach the summit, and nice to get an easier downhill hike. We had planned to get to Elizondo today, and although we started off in decent weather, the clouds were closing in. After about 3.5 hours walking it really got dark and the thunder and storm could be heard and seen in the close distance. We decided to play it safe and set up camp at a nice remote picnic area, complete with picnic tables and a water point.

We had just enough time to setup camp, have a hot drink and lunch before the rain came in.
